Our territory takes in Blue Ridge and the communities around it in Elmore County, so calls from the Wallahatchie Road corridor, the Coosa River and out by the Coosa River valley all get the same response.
Blue Ridge has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Blue Ridge. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The mesh has a shiny worn stripe near the handleAbrasion from contact with the track or jamb, meaning the frame is no longer running true.
- It takes real effort to slideSeized rollers or a track full of packed debris.
- The screen door falls out of the trackWorn screen rollers or a bent top rail that no longer holds the panel in the head channel.
- The storm door closer has torn out of the frameWind caught the door; the mounting needs repair and a wind chain fitted.
- The screen track itself is damagedThe channel the screen rides in has been bent or worn.
- Sun damage has made the mesh brittleUV degradation, common on south and west facing doors.

Remnants of Gulf systems still carry serious rain this far inland, and doors on the south and west sides of a house take the brunt of it.
Ultraviolet light is what kills screen mesh. Standard fiberglass on a south or west exposure goes brittle and crumbles at the edges, which is why solar mesh is worth the difference on sunny elevations.
Rain drives grit and organic debris into the screen track, and that debris packs down under the rollers and holds moisture against the frame.
None of it is a reason to replace a door. It is a reason to use the right parts and set the door up correctly in the first place.
Local factors we account for in Blue Ridge: sun and heat load and heavy rainfall — typical of the River Region.

- Work out whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that jams is often a track problem. Replacing rollers in a damaged track fixes nothing.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Choose the right meshStandard fiberglass, pet-resistant, solar or fine mesh, depending on pets, sun exposure and what insects you are dealing with.
- Rescreen with correct tensionEven tension and properly seated spline so the mesh does not sag or pull out of the channel. We measure the reveal before and after on River Region jobs, so seasonal movement can be told apart from a genuine fault.
- Fit and adjust the rollersBoth rollers set so the frame runs level and the latch meets its keeper without lifting.
- Test the full travelThe door should move with one finger, latch cleanly and stay in the track.

What a screen door repair job costs comes down to a handful of things, and we would rather be straight about them up front:
- the mesh type chosen, from standard fiberglass to pet-resistant and solar
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
- storm door hardware such as closers and latches
- the size of the panel

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Blue Ridge: questions we get asked
Do you repair storm doors as well as screens?
Yes, including closers, latches, sweeps, hinges and glass or screen inserts. Storm door closers that have torn out of the frame after a gust are one of the most common calls.
Can you make a screen that keeps out the tiny biting insects?
Yes, fine no-see-um mesh. It has a much tighter weave, and in the parts of Elmore County near water it is the only thing that actually works against the smallest biters.
My sliding screen keeps falling out. Why does it keep happening?
The rollers have worn down so the panel is riding too low and the top rail no longer sits in the head channel. Lifting it back in without replacing the rollers means it will come out again, usually within days.
Do you make custom-size screens?
Yes. Older openings in Blue Ridge are rarely a stock size, and building a panel to the actual measured opening is the only way to get one that fits and stays in.
The screen slides hard even though it is not falling out. What is wrong?
Either the rollers have seized or the track is packed with debris. In Blue Ridge the track collects a surprising amount of grit, and it acts like grinding paste on the rollers.
Will a solar screen make my room cooler?
It helps noticeably on a sunny exposure. Solar mesh blocks a good portion of the heat before it reaches the glass, which matters on west-facing doors during Blue Ridge summers.
