Most of our Foley calls come from Downtown Foley and the OWA area, though we work the whole Baldwin County side of it and get out to Daphne regularly.
Foley has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

Salt air is the single biggest factor on the coast. It attacks the steel inside roller bearings, hinge pins, latch mechanisms and closer springs, and it does it year round whether or not a storm ever comes.
Windows are designed to collect water in the frame and drain it out through weep holes, and blocked weeps during heavy rain is the standard reason water appears on an interior sill.
Blowing sand etches glass, packs into slider window tracks and abrades weatherstrip, and it is the reason sliding windows in sandy areas need their rollers replaced far more often.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Foley summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Foley: heavy rainfall and blowing sand — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

- Establish the type before the faultDouble hung, casement, slider, awning and fixed all fail differently, and the diagnosis follows the type.
- Test the moving parts independentlySash movement, locking and sealing each get checked separately so we know which one has failed.
- Check the drainageBlocked weep slots put water on the sill and into the wall, and they are behind a lot of what gets blamed on the glass.
- Be clear where replacement is rightWhere a frame is rotted through or a unit is obsolete, we say so plainly instead of selling a repair that will not hold.
- Reseal properlyNew weatherstrip and glazing seals so the window performs as it should.
- Check it holds where you leave itA sash that creeps down after a few minutes has not been fixed, so we leave it open and come back to it before finishing. We check the drainage path on every coastal opening, because wind-driven rain gets in where ordinary rain never would.

Every window repair call in Baldwin County is a little different, and the cost follows what the door actually needs:
- wood repair and rot splicing where the frame is damaged
- single window versus several in one visit
- screen work alongside the window repair
- glass unit size, tempering and low-E coatings
- commercial glazing and access requirements

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Window repair in Foley: questions we get asked
When is a window genuinely not worth repairing?
When the frame itself has failed structurally or the window is so far gone that repair costs approach replacement. That is a much smaller set of windows than you would think from replacement advertising, and we will tell you when you are in it.
Can painted-shut windows be opened again?
Usually yes, with care. It takes patience to cut the paint seal without damaging the sash or the stops, but old windows in Foley homes are often perfectly serviceable once freed.
My casement crank spins without moving the window. Why?
The gears in the operator have stripped. It is a common failure and a straightforward replacement as long as we can identify the manufacturer.
How do I stop condensation on my windows in winter?
Some of it is indoor humidity rather than the window. But if the glass surface is cold enough to condense heavily, the unit may have failed. In Foley it is worth checking whether the moisture is on the surface or between the panes.
Is it worth repairing old wood windows?
Very often, yes. Old wood windows in Foley were made from better material than most modern replacements and were designed to be repaired. Rot can be spliced, sashes rebuilt and balances replaced.
Water is coming in at my window sill. What causes that?
Usually blocked weep holes. Windows are designed to collect water in the frame and drain it out, and when those drains clog it backs up and comes inside instead.
