My sliding door handle snapped off. Is that a common failure?
Very. The exterior pull on older patio doors is a thin casting that has been carrying the full weight of the panel every time someone drags a stiff door open. If your handle broke, check how hard the door is to move, because that is often the underlying cause.
The handle turns but the door will not open. What is wrong?
The connection between the handle and the latch has broken, usually the spindle or the internal drive. If somebody is stuck behind that door, say so when you call and we will treat it accordingly.
The handles in my rental property keep failing. Why?
Almost always builder-grade hardware on doors that get heavy use. Grade 2 or Grade 1 hardware costs more up front and stops the repeat calls, which for a landlord in Tarrant usually pays for itself inside two years.
Do I need to replace the lock to replace the handle?
