Our Egypt customers are spread from the US-411 corridor to the Coosa River and out around the Coosa River valley, and we serve the surrounding Etowah County communities on the same schedule.
A lot of what we see in Etowah County comes down to age. Houses built decades ago have solid frames with tired hardware; houses built recently have sound hardware in frames that are still settling.

These are the sliding door repair faults we are called out to most often in Egypt. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- The screen door falls out constantlyWorn screen rollers and a bent top or bottom rail on the screen frame.
- The handle pulls but nothing releasesBroken latch linkage inside the stile, or a snapped internal actuator rod.
- It jumps off the trackThe panel has dropped low enough that it is no longer captured by the head channel, or the roller adjustment screws have backed out.
- The track has a raised lip you can catch a fingernail onAluminium track peened over by a panel that has been running on bare wheel housings.
- The door bounces or chatters as it movesFlat spots worn onto nylon roller wheels that have been running on grit.
- You can lift the panel visibly in its openingExcess head clearance from a sagging header, which is what lets it jump the track.

Storms coming off the ridges dump a lot of water in a short time, and any door with a compromised threshold pan will show it on the floor inside.
Repeated freezes make the vinyl fin seal and bulb weatherstrip on a slider go brittle, and a brittle seal cracks the first time the panel closes hard against it, which is why so many doors here are draftier every January than the last.
Storm wind pushes hard on the large flat surface of a patio slider and drives the panel against the interlock, which loosens roller adjustment over time and works the panel out of alignment with its latch keeper.
It is why the same repair done properly in Egypt lasts, and the same repair done cheaply does not.
Local factors we account for in Egypt: winter freezes and storm wind — typical of the Appalachian foothills.

- Look at the whole opening, not just the doorWe check the panel, the track, the head channel and the frame for square before touching a screwdriver, because a door that is fighting the frame will eat a new set of rollers in a year.
- Get the glass out of the way safelyA patio panel is heavy and awkward. We take it out properly so the track and the roller housings can actually be seen.
- Match the hardwareSliding door rollers are not universal. We identify the manufacturer and panel weight and fit the right tandem assembly rather than the closest thing on the truck.
- Bring the running surface backA pitted or peened track will destroy new rollers in a season, so it gets dressed, capped or replaced before anything goes back in.
- Level the panel, then set the heightBoth adjusters are wound together so the panel sits level and the interlock engages along its whole length, not just at the top. We check for freeze damage as well as wear on foothill openings, since both are common and they need different fixes.
- Check the weep holes before we goA door that slides beautifully but drains badly will still put water on your floor, so the drainage gets cleared and tested.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of sliding door repair in Egypt
What a sliding door repair job costs comes down to a handful of things, and we would rather be straight about them up front:
- the age of the door and whether replacement hardware is still made for it
- whether the fix is rollers only or rollers plus track repair
- how many panels the system has, since three and four panel doors take longer to set
- the size and weight of the panel, since heavy insulated glass units need heavier assemblies
- how much damage the worn track has taken before the call
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Egypt.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Sliding door repair in Egypt: questions we get asked
My door came off the track. Did I break something?
Usually not. A panel comes out of the track when it has dropped low enough that the head channel no longer holds it, which means the rollers were already worn or the adjustment screws backed out. Putting it back without correcting the height means it will happen again.
Can a sliding door that has stopped rolling be fixed, or does it need replacing?
Almost always fixed. The frame and glass are usually fine and it is the two small roller assemblies underneath that have failed. Replacing a whole patio door in Egypt is a several thousand dollar job; rebuilding the rollers and track is a fraction of that and gets you a door that rolls better than it has in years.
How long does a sliding door repair take?
Most single roller-and-track jobs in Egypt take one to two hours. Multi-panel doors, doors with damaged tracks that need capping, or units that also need glass work take longer, and we tell you which category yours falls into before we start.
Is there anything I can do to make my sliding door last longer?
Vacuum the track rather than sweeping it, keep silicone rather than oil-based lubricant on the running surface, and check that the weep holes at the bottom of the sill are open. Oil-based products in Egypt collect dust and grit and turn into grinding paste.
Do you repair the older aluminum sliding doors?
Yes, and there are a lot of them in Egypt. Aluminum frames from the sixties through the eighties are actually good candidates for repair because the frame material has not degraded; it is the rollers, the track surface and the weatherstrip that have worn out.
Do you work on the big multi-panel and stacking patio doors?
Yes. Those systems put a lot of weight on each roller and they are less forgiving of a frame that is even slightly out of square, so alignment work matters more on them than on a standard two-panel door.
Need it looked at soon?Call and we will tell you honestly when we can get there.
