Most of our Harvest calls come from Wall Triana Highway and Capshaw, though we work the whole Madison County side of it and get out to Madison regularly.
The mix of housing here matters for door work. Older Harvest homes have wood frames and hardware worth repairing rather than replacing, while newer construction tends to have vinyl and aluminum systems where the moving parts wear out long before anything else does.

North Alabama sits in the heart of Dixie Alley, and the March and November storm seasons drive rain sideways against doors that face west and south.
Pressure differences from wind and from HVAC cycling swing interior doors and slam them, which loosens hinge screws and is hard on both the door and the frame.
Wet weather raises indoor humidity noticeably, and the interior doors that stick after several rainy days are responding to that rather than to anything structural.
We see the pattern often enough across Madison County that we usually know what we are looking at before we arrive.
Local factors we account for in Harvest: storm wind and heavy rainfall — typical of the Tennessee Valley.

- Ask which doors and whenOne door is a door problem. Five doors on one floor is a building problem, and the fix is different.
- Diagnose sag versus swelling versus frame movementThey look identical from a distance and need completely different fixes.
- Try the reversible fix firstA door planed in a wet August is a door with a gap in January, so we exhaust adjustment before removing material. Valley jobs get checked across the humidity swing, so we adjust for the range rather than for the day we happen to be there.
- Repair the hardware properlyLatches, privacy sets, bifold pivots, pocket door hangers and barn door guides all get the correct parts rather than a workaround.
- Set the latch to close quietlyA door should latch with a light push and stay latched without rattling.
- Leave the set consistentDoors through a house should feel the same to use. We adjust the others while we are there rather than leaving one odd one.

Pricing on interior door repair depends on what has actually failed, which is why we talk it through before quoting. These are the things that move the number:
- specialty hardware such as pocket, bifold and barn door systems
- whether the frame also needs correcting
- trimming doors to clear new flooring
- hollow core versus solid core doors
- adjustment and hardware work versus door slab replacement
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Harvest.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Interior door repair in Harvest: questions we get asked
We put in new flooring and now the doors will not close. What now?
The doors need trimming to clear the new floor height. It is straightforward, but the amount matters: too little and it still drags, too much and you get a gap under every door in the house.
Can you hang a barn door properly?
Yes, and the important part is the backing. Barn door track has to be fixed into solid framing, not into drywall with anchors, or the whole thing eventually pulls off the wall.
My bedroom door sticks at the top. Do I need to plane it?
Probably not, and we would try everything else first. Sticking at the top corner is usually hinge sag, and correcting the hinges brings the door back without removing any material. Planing is permanent and it is the last resort, not the first.
How many doors can you do in one visit?
Most of a typical house. Interior door work is quick once we are on site, and doing them together is far better value than calling us back for each one.
Do you replace interior doors as well as repair them?
Yes. A new slab hung in the existing frame is a common job and much simpler than replacing the whole frame and casing.
Several doors in my house started sticking at the same time. Why?
That is the house moving rather than the doors. In Harvest it is usually seasonal, tied to how wet the ground under the foundation is. It is worth knowing whether it comes and goes or is getting steadily worse.
