We know New Hope well: the older housing around Main Drive, the newer construction toward the AL-431 corridor, and everything out past the Paint Rock River.
New Hope has enough older housing stock that repair almost always beats replacement here, and enough new construction that we spend a lot of time on hardware that failed early.

The Tennessee Valley runs a wider temperature swing than most of Alabama. Summer humidity sits on aluminum and vinyl frames for months, then December through February drops below freezing dozens of nights, and the valley picks up an ice event every few winters.
Repeated freezes make the vinyl fin seal and bulb weatherstrip on a slider go brittle, and a brittle seal cracks the first time the panel closes hard against it, which is why so many doors here are draftier every January than the last.
Long humid stretches keep condensation on the cold aluminum frame of a slider almost continuously, and that moisture rusts roller axles and adjustment screws from the inside, which is why the screws often shear when someone finally tries to adjust the door.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a New Hope summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in New Hope: winter freezes and sustained humidity — typical of the Tennessee Valley.

- Watch it move before touching anythingWe run the door end to end and listen. Where the noise starts and where the effort peaks tells us which roller has gone.
- Get the glass out of the way safelyA patio panel is heavy and awkward. We take it out properly so the track and the roller housings can actually be seen.
- Match the hardwareSliding door rollers are not universal. We identify the manufacturer and panel weight and fit the right tandem assembly rather than the closest thing on the truck.
- Restore the running surfaceWorn track gets repaired or capped so the new rollers are not immediately damaged by the old groove. We look at how the opening behaves wet and dry, since the fault often only appears in one half of the year.
- Set it so the lock works without liftingThe height is right when the latch engages with the door simply pushed closed. Anything you have to lift is still misadjusted.
- Check the weep holes before we goA door that slides beautifully but drains badly will still put water on your floor, so the drainage gets cleared and tested.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of sliding door repair in New Hope
There is no single price for sliding door repair in New Hope, because two doors with identical symptoms can need very different work. Here is what makes the difference:
- the age of the door and whether replacement hardware is still made for it
- how much damage the worn track has taken before the call
- how many panels the system has, since three and four panel doors take longer to set
- whether the frame has moved and needs shimming or refastening
- the size and weight of the panel, since heavy insulated glass units need heavier assemblies
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to New Hope.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Sliding door repair in New Hope: questions we get asked
Can a sliding door that has stopped rolling be fixed, or does it need replacing?
Almost always fixed. The frame and glass are usually fine and it is the two small roller assemblies underneath that have failed. Replacing a whole patio door in New Hope is a several thousand dollar job; rebuilding the rollers and track is a fraction of that and gets you a door that rolls better than it has in years.
Do you work on the big multi-panel and stacking patio doors?
Yes. Those systems put a lot of weight on each roller and they are less forgiving of a frame that is even slightly out of square, so alignment work matters more on them than on a standard two-panel door.
Will new rollers fix a door that scrapes loudly?
Only if the track is still in good condition. Once a roller has broken through and the housing has been riding on bare aluminum, the track has a groove worn in it, and new rollers dropped onto that groove will fail quickly. That is when we cap the track.
Do you replace the glass in sliding doors too?
Yes. Fogged units where the insulated seal has failed, cracked panes and full tempered glass replacement are all part of what we do, and we can usually keep the existing frame.
My door came off the track. Did I break something?
Usually not. A panel comes out of the track when it has dropped low enough that the head channel no longer holds it, which means the rollers were already worn or the adjustment screws backed out. Putting it back without correcting the height means it will happen again.
Why does my sliding door work fine in winter and stick in summer?
That is a moisture and expansion problem, and it is common across Madison County. Humid months swell wood and vinyl components and expand the frame slightly, which is enough to close up clearance that was already marginal because of worn rollers.
