Orange Beach is part of our regular Baldwin County territory, and between Perdido Beach Boulevard, Ono Island side and the the Wharf and its Ferris wheel area we are here most weeks.
Between the established parts of Orange Beach and the newer subdivisions, we see two different kinds of failure: worn-out frames on one side of town and worn-out hardware on the other.

These are the screen door repair faults we are called out to most often in Orange Beach. If you recognise one, the underlying cause is usually the second half of the line.
- Sun damage has made the mesh brittleUV degradation, common on south and west facing doors.
- Corners have come apartFailed corner keys, which are replaceable.
- The mesh has a shiny worn stripe near the handleAbrasion from contact with the track or jamb, meaning the frame is no longer running true.
- The storm door closer has torn out of the frameWind caught the door; the mounting needs repair and a wind chain fitted.
- The screen track itself is damagedThe channel the screen rides in has been bent or worn.
- The screen tilts and jams halfway acrossOne roller seized while the other still turns, so the frame is walking out of square.

Between roughly 65 inches of rain a year, near-constant humidity and a June-to-November hurricane season, coastal doors work harder than doors anywhere else in Alabama.
Blowing sand abrades screen mesh and packs into the screen track, and a screen track full of sand will not let a panel roll no matter how good the rollers are.
Rain drives grit and organic debris into the screen track, and that debris packs down under the rollers and holds moisture against the frame.
Knowing that is the difference between a repair that holds through a Orange Beach summer and one that does not.
Local factors we account for in Orange Beach: blowing sand and heavy rainfall — typical of the Alabama Gulf Coast.

- Check whether it is the screen or the trackA screen that keeps coming out is usually a roller and track problem, and rescreening it would not solve anything.
- Check the frame for squareA racked frame will never slide properly. Corner keys get reset before anything else is considered.
- Choose the right meshStandard fiberglass, pet-resistant, solar or fine mesh, depending on pets, sun exposure and what insects you are dealing with.
- Rescreen with correct tensionToo tight and the frame bows, too loose and it billows. Even tension is what keeps a screen flat and quiet.
- Fit and adjust the rollersSet so the panel rides smoothly and stays captured in the head channel.
- Check it stays in the trackA screen that can be lifted out is one gust from being on the patio, so the height and the guides get set properly. Coastal jobs get stainless or coated fixings as standard, since anything else here is a return visit waiting to happen.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895What affects the cost of screen door repair in Orange Beach
We would rather tell you what drives the price than quote a number that turns out to be wrong once we see the door. On a screen door repair job in Orange Beach, the main variables are these:
- the size of the panel
- storm door hardware such as closers and latches
- rescreening versus repairing or replacing the frame
- custom-built replacement panels where the original is not repairable
- roller and track work in addition to the screen itself
Call and describe what the door is doing. In most cases we can tell you over the phone which of those applies to you before anyone drives out to Orange Beach.

Click to Call (205) 619-2895Screen door repair in Orange Beach: questions we get asked
Do you make custom-size screens?
Yes. Older openings in Orange Beach are rarely a stock size, and building a panel to the actual measured opening is the only way to get one that fits and stays in.
The screen slides hard even though it is not falling out. What is wrong?
Either the rollers have seized or the track is packed with debris. In Orange Beach the track collects a surprising amount of grit, and it acts like grinding paste on the rollers.
My sliding screen keeps falling out. Why does it keep happening?
The rollers have worn down so the panel is riding too low and the top rail no longer sits in the head channel. Lifting it back in without replacing the rollers means it will come out again, usually within days.
Will a solar screen make my room cooler?
It helps noticeably on a sunny exposure. Solar mesh blocks a good portion of the heat before it reaches the glass, which matters on west-facing doors during Orange Beach summers.
My storm door blew open and broke. Can it be repaired?
Usually yes: the closer and its mounting take the damage. We repair the mounting and fit a wind chain so the next gust does not do the same thing.
How long does a rescreen take?
Usually under an hour per panel in Orange Beach. If the frame needs straightening or corner keys replaced, allow a bit longer.
